It is official now: Prince Harry and actress Meghan Markle will marry next spring. The exact date is still not known. The first congratulations are coming across. Harry’s grandparents are really pleased about the engagement and wish them all the best for their future, says a short statement on Twitter. Markle’s parents congratulated as well. 

The couple was dating each other since 1 ½ years. Now, the younger brother follows Prince William and proposed marriage to Markle, who took the unusual step of cooperating with an extensive Vanity Fair profile earlier this year. Taking this step, Prince Harry ends months of speculation about their future.

Some have the opinion that Markle is not the right one for Harry:"She is a divorced biracial American who stars in a TV show". There were talks about her Instagram account showing too revealing photos of herself. Furthermore, this wedding is not the first one for Markle. In 2011, she married the manager Trevor Engelson. Two years later they got divorced. Thereby, Markle will be the third divorced woman, after Wallis Simpson and Duchess Camilla, who will marry into the Windsor family.

"It was a cozy night. The engagement was just an amazing surprise, it was so sweet and natural and very romantic. He got on one knee … I could barely let (him) finish proposing. I said ‘can I say yes now’?"

Harry himself designed the ring. It is of yellow gold, that is Meghan Markle’s favourite one. The little diamonds on the site are from Diana’s jewellery collection “to make sure that she’s with us on this crazy journey together”.

"I think everything about Harry’s thoughtfulness and the inclusion of that in obviously not being able to meet his mom is so important to me to know that she is a part of this with us (…)"
